World of Beer ALEgorithm
Like Pandora for Beer-Lovers
World of Beer is a neighborhood gathering spot for beer-lovers with 75 locations across 23 states. We wanted to reward patrons for exploring beers in the taverns that each hold a 500+ beer selection and make it easier than ever to discover new favorites.
After conducting consumer research, our customers told us that the old loyalty program did not appeal to the unique preferences of a diverse clientele. In the past, World of Beer loyalty members were recognized based only on unique beers tried, limiting participants from reaching reward milestones. Instead, the new program provided rewards for every dollar spent on any beer, spirits, wine or food - not just on new beers tried. We then built an accompanying app to better customize individual rewards.
Alongside this new rewards program in the app was the ALEgorithm, a community-driven beer discovery engine. The ALEgorithm provided tailored beer recommendations based on personal taste and member engagement. Members are encouraged to try, rate and share their findings with other community ,and rate the beesr they tried at World of Beer. This rating systems then tailored their beer recommendations on the app - querying the tap and cooler selection of the day and picking a variety of beers that they would like. Think of it like Pandora for beer-lovers - if you thumbs up, it recommends more beers like that, if you thumbs down, it tracks what you don't like and remembers it. This is exactly what our staff is trained to do, by helping you choose the right beer for your tastes. The app simply makes the process faster and simpler for the World of Beer regulars.
